Pebeo Setacolor Transparent Fabric Paint

Pebeo Setacolor Transparent Fabric Paint

(♪♪♪) Pebeo’s Setacolor
Transparent Paints were developed as
a complement to the Setacolor Opaque
range of paints. The range in the
Setacolor Transparent line include 30 bright and
luminous transparent colours including five
florescent colours. The paints can be applied
as they are with any fabric paints. They may be
applied with a brush, a stamp, a stencil,
or any other means that you may have for placing
the paint on the fabric. What I’m going to
talk about today is a fabulous technique
that we have that is specific to the
Setacolor Transparent paint, and it is called the Setacolor
Soleil Sun Printing Technique. This piece in front of me
has been painted using that technique. The unique aspect of
this technique is that we dilute the paints
in order for the paint to imprint an image
on the fabric. We simply dilute the paint, apply it on the surface
of the fabric, place patterns on it,
place it in the sun, and the sun prints
the images on the fabric. Next I’m going to actually
show you a step by step so that we can see an example
of a sun printed item. First I’m going to point out
that you can paint on any piece of fabric that is
at least 50% natural fibres. In addition you want to
be sure that you do wash the fabric in advance to remove any sizing
from the fabric. The first thing that
we do in sun printing is we want to add
some water to the surface that we’re going to paint, so I’m just spraying
some water on. Next, we apply the paint. It’s very important
that you dilute the paint, two parts water
to one part paint. I’m going to
quickly apply colour, and as you notice I’m going to
use two complementary colours that will do a little bit
of bleeding together. Once you cover
your surface with the paint, then you will place
the pattern on top of the colour. I’m going to apply
a pattern of a city skyline, So I place the paper pattern
directly on top of the paint. Be sure to press very firmly
so that as the paint dries you get a nice sharp image. I’m now going to take this
piece out to the sunlight or another light source. I have just returned
from the outdoors, or other light source, and I’m now ready
to remove my pattern from my t-shirt. The piece is completely dry
and I simply remove the paper to reveal the nice imprint
from the sunlight. It’s very very intense
and very brilliant. I do want to point out that
the faster the piece dries the more intense
and dramatic the imprint is on the t-shirt. Once we have completed
we will want to heat set this paint in order
for it to be permanent. Once we heat set it
with an iron it is then washable
and dry cleanable. With the Pebeo Setacolor
Transparent Paints we can paint
any number of items using the
Setacolor Soleil technique, or simply
brush techniques, stamp techniques,
or stencilling. It’s great to use for
wearables or home decor items. (♪♪♪) Captioned by GigEcast
