Painting with WATERCOLOR & GLITTER Brush Pens!

Painting with WATERCOLOR & GLITTER Brush Pens!

– [Adam & Steph] Hi our friends. (Steph laughing) – We have been sent some
art stuff from a company that sent us stuff recently. – Yeah, Tonic Studios if
you remember those people. – Yeah we did a video called a big marker hall, I’ll put a link to it somewhere in case you
haven’t seen that one. – Yeah in case you haven’t seen it yet cause we were really
surprised that they’ve sent us more of them. – Adam’s reading the letter here. – So basically guys before
we get to the markers. And Daniel who we named The Marker Fairy. I don’t know if ever he’s
like promoted himself or someone at Tonic Studios
has promoted him but he’s now The Marker Fairy. – [Steph] Have we got any yellow markers? – Do we got yellow ones? Uh, there’s quite a few. – [Steph] I always forget
that you’re colorblind I’m sorry. (laughs) – I can do this. I felt, you know, I thought
they were all yellow cause they’ve got this
yellow ring around them. I was like of course we got yellows. – [Steph] So we’ve got four of these, and there’s three in each pack. So these ones are watercolour markers. This is, two glitter pens. And these two we’re gonna
have to fill these up with water cause I think they’re just like you know when you’re
watercoloring you’ve got the brushes that can hold water in them. – Oh yeah, yeah you
fill them up with water. – [Steph] We’ve used them
in a couple of other videos. – Yeah. Oh you can never have too many of those. – [Steph] And another
bonus that they sent. They sent us a marker holder
to put all the markers in that they sent us before. They’re not in colour
order so don’t judge me. – [Adam] Animal box not included. – [Steph] That’s Part Jackson. (laughs) – [Adam] Oh come with me puppy. (Steph laughing) – [Steph] Is he coming to have a look? Yeah there’s a little call
your stand it says, “Nuvo” on it and this is the first marker holder that I’ve ever had so it’s appreciated. – Yeah we’ve never had one. And I approve of this marker holder. (Steph laughing) – [Steph] Is he just
gonna live up there now? – I’m late for work. It says on the back of these ones but it didn’t on the other ones. “Adult use only. Not for
suitable for under 14’s.” – [Steph] Oh wow I didn’t notice that. – What’s in these Daniel,
what aren’t you telling me. – [Steph] Maybe they’re,
you know like when crayons are non-toxic so you can eat them. Maybe it presumes that
anyone under the age of 14 will try to eat them. – Don’t eat them you idiot. – [Steph] So if you’re
under 14 just to be covered, just don’t eat them. – I don’t know, maybe
he’s put gold in them? (Steph laughing) – [Steph] So yeah we’re
about to experience these for the first time. – Yeah I think we should
open some, let’s see. Glitter gloss, I like the sound of that. – [Steph] I like how
easy they are to open. They’ve just got like
two little plastic things that clip on at the side. – [Adam] Hmmn. (grunting) Oh I like that it feels
like a bathroom floor. It comes with a free bathroom tile. Press. Oh it says, “Press” so I
imagine you have to give them the squeeze and
the ink will come down. – [Steph] Yeah cause
they’re the glitter ones. – Okay whose is this? – [Steph] That’s my sketch
book get off. (laughs) I want to swatch them. – Welcome to glitter class with me. Oh there’s something in
there, that’s a good sign. It’s doin’ something I can hear it. – [Steph] I think that’s
your stomach. (laughs) – [Adam] I’m so hungry for these pens. – [Steph] Don’t eat them. – [Adam] This is an
invisible ink glitter pen. Wait a second. – [Steph] There’s a plastic
seal on it, you dingoose. – Losin’ that. – [Steph] Did you just throw that, yeah. Yeah that is now on our floor. – [Adam] Don’t look. I can see why cause I
clearly don’t have the brain of a 14 year old because I didn’t realise they all have protection things on them. Oh yeah the ink’s coming
like straight through now. – [Steph] You’re lucky it
didn’t like explode on you. – [Adam] Oh. – [Steph] Oh. – [Adam] Ooo. – [Steph] Well you’ve
got some on the paper. – [Adam] Oh yeah it’s like
clear but there’s glitter in it. – [Steph] Ooo. – [Adam] I don’t know if you can see that. I can see it. Can you see it? – [Steph] There. – [Adam] It just looks very wet. It looks like I’ve sneezed on it but there’s definitely glitter in there. – So I’ll be clever and
I’m gonna take this off. – [Adam] Oh, you passed the IQ test. Look at the concentration. – Trying to get it back on. Is that fully on? Did yours have a gap in it? I’m gonna need help. – [Adam] You need help with that? (marker clicking) There you go genius. – [Steph] Thank you. (laughs) – Shall we try again? – So now that I’ve started this pen. (Adam laughing) We squeeze. Oh I can hear it. – [Adam] Look. – [Steph] Oh. Oh you can really see
the glitter on that one now it’s dried. – [Adam] Uh yeah, there we go. Yeah there it is. – [Steph] Yeah so we’ll
have to put that on top of some of the colours that we did. – [Adam] Yeah I think that’s probably what they’re meant for. Unless you use the dark paper. Like when we used black paper last week. – Oh yeah it would work with that. – [Adam] That’d work really well on that. Do you lay the colour down
on your drawing first? Is that how it works? – Yeah we’ve used the
watercolour once before. You just put a touch of these down. – [Adam] I’m not very good at these. (Steph laughing) – [Steph] Can you not
remember how to use them. – [Adam] No. – Well it’s the same as the other ones. It’s got a ring on it. (Adam laughing) – [Adam] Do you think Daniel liked it? So he put a ring on all of them. (laughs) – Are you making a Beyonce reference? – [Adam] I like how they do a little fart before they start working. It’s like they’re just
a little bit nervous. Oh wow look at that. – [Steph] But we need to, fill up one of the water brushes next. – [Adam] Well I can go
fill those up for you if you want me to. – [Steph] If you don’t mind. – [Adam] I was gonna
fill those up right now. Fillin’ my water brush. Fillin’ my water brush. You know you guys are really lucky cause all this gets edited out. But I have to sit and watch every swatch. (Steph laughing) – Well I wanted to get them all working for us so that we can draw with them. – [Adam] It’s like day three,
she’s swatched four of them. (Steph laughing) Oh and you’ll be pleased to know that I have filled up some of these. – Oh and I have noticed
some stuff about these pens while you were fillin’ those up. – [Adam] Hmm? – So if you remember with the markers, you were getting a bit
confused with the colours of them cause they only
have like number codes. – [Adam] Yes. – These ones have colour names on the lid and there’s a sticker
with them on the barrel. – [Adam] Indigo Dawn. – And the colours all come
in different little sets. So this one’s called Winter Skies. – [Adam] Mmhmm. – We also have Spring Meadow. – [Adam] Oh that’s a cute one. That sounds cool. – Then there’s Autumn Woodland. – [Adam] Mmhmm. – And Summer Holiday. So they’re all named
after different seasons. – [Adam] Oh right yeah. – That didn’t, you– (Adam and Steph laughing) – [Adam] There’s a are cute name. – When you first start
gettin’ the ink to run down, it can sometimes be a little bit messy. It can also come out in one
splodge but once it’s done it seems to be okay. Try and have a go at trying
to watercolour one of them. – [Adam] I got this workin’ hun. – [Steph] Let’s have a try. Oooo! – [Adam] Oh there we go, yeah. Oh wow look at that. – [Steph] Yeah. – [Adam] Yeah that’s lookin’ really nice. – I don’t think you can activate
them once they’re dried. – [Adam] So you gotta use
them while they’re wet. – Yeah when they’re still
quite freshly put down. But they do blend quite nicely when the– – [Adam] When they’re
wet, yeah look at that. – [Steph] When they’re freshly coloured. I love how they write on each one. So this one’s a fine water brush. And this a medium water brush. – [Adam] There we go guys. – Anyway I’ll get back to swatching these and you’ll see me in a magic minute. – [Adam] Yay. Through the magic of editing
I would’ve like grown a beard and been grey and like, “Oh we’re finally finished.” Oh just one quick important note guys while we’ve been swatching these. They’ve been laying on the bed and we read on the packet you
should keep them upright, so. – [Steph] So we bought a
pencil pot in. (laughs) – [Adam] We’re just like
laying them all over the bed. It’s like oh it doesn’t
matter if it gets on there. – [Steph] I mean in hindsight
that might have been why they sent us that stand thing. – [Adam] Oh yeah, yeah. – But the markers are livin’ in that which I don’t mind. – [Adam] Daniel’s like here
you go, it’s like the brag. – Maybe we are but we
don’t get told what to do. – [Adam] He’s like pullin’ his hair. I’m like why do I keep sending
these idiots free stuff. Do you have any idea what
you wanna draw with these? – Well originally because
they’re called Nouveau Markers. I think they’re called Nouveau Markers. – [Adam] Nouveau markers yeah. – Yeah we were gonna
say let’s draw an animal that begins with N and then we were like what animal begins with N? – [Adam] Naked mole rat. – Yeah we went on google and
pretty much the only animal that begins with an N is a naked mole rat. – [Adam] And like a narwhal. The thing is as well,
because they’re so colourful. – [Steph] It would be kind of a shame to waste them on a naked mole rat. – [Adam] Oh, you can’t waste
anything on a naked mole rat. – But to be honest that’s
a really good colour for a naked mole rat. (laughs) – [Adam] It’s a lovely
pink naked mole rat colour. (Steph laughing) If you’re curious guys this is the paper we’re gonna be using. What are you doodlin’? – [Steph] I’m just sketching
out a fashion-y lady. – [Adam] She looks pretty fashionable. – [Steph] I thought
I’d go for doing a lady because she can wear some pretty colourful patterned clothes or something. – [Adam] It’ll work really
well with the colours that we’ve been given. – [Steph] Yeah that’s what I’m hoping. – [Adam] Are you gonna
give her a colourful sock that she’s got on her head. – [Steph] It’s not a sock it’s
meant to be a hat. (laughs) – [Adam] She’s settin’ new trends. Sock fashion. – [Steph] Have you ever
wore a sock on your head? – [Adam] Yeah. – How about you guys in the comments? You guys seem to have done everything we’ve ever suggested. – [Adam] Here’s today’s
question, do you wear socks on your head on a regular basis? – Oh on a regular basis. – [Adam] Yeah. – Not just this one time. – [Adam] We had a comment recently guys. It went something along the lines of comment below if you’re not wearing socks. – Oh yeah we get a lot
of comments like that for some reason. – [Adam] Is that a big
thing with you guys? Do you like watching us not wearing socks? Should I try doin’ a doodle
today without wearing socks? – Vote in this poll above here if you’re not wearing socks at the moment. – [Adam] Yeah. (laughs) But we love you guys. You’re so quirky. And you ask such strange
and amazing things. – [Steph] I think it’s
cause we provoke them with unusual questions. – [Adam] Are we strange and amazing? – Not quite. (laughs) – [Adam] But if we were
one of those things. (Steph and Adam laughing) – They’ve got so used to
us asking strange questions that they’ve started asking
us strange questions. (laughs) – [Adam] It’s like, oh
you’re weird let’s ask you a weird question. (laughs) (Steph laughing) – I know how they feel now. – [Adam] I need to be honest
guys we are a bit strange. What’s her name? She needs a name. – [Steph] Probably just an average name. – [Adam] What about Phyllis? – [Steph] Is that an average name? – [Adam] Of course,
Phyllis is an amazing name. – [Steph] It’s an amazing
name but is it average? – [Adam] Phyllis Sockenhauser. – [Steph] And what are you drawing? We haven’t seen anything of yours yet. – [Adam] I’m just really infatuated with Phyllis Sockenhauser. Maybe I should call this
Sophie Enscarfenschmidtz. – [Steph] That sounds German. – [Adam] Oh that’s cool,
Germany’s a really nice place. Are any of you, are any of
you are German that watch us? – I think they are
because when we do videos about products from Tiger, there’s
always a tonne of arguments in the comments about
whether it’s from Denmark or if it’s German. (laughs)
– Oh yeah, guys yeah. – [Adam] Seriously. Because right guys,
when I went in to Tiger I read a few labels and
spoke to a couple of people. And apparently it’s Danish, huh. – I was under the belief
that it was Danish but German people were
sayin’ that they could read what it was then. – [Adam] Is Danish and
German really similar then? – This is gonna cause another
argument in the comments. Everyone calm down. – [Adam] It’s the Tiger war two. – [Steph] I’ll put those next to you. – [Adam] I will look after these. – [Steph] Cause they’re gonna fall over. – [Adam] Wedge them next to
my fat butt they won’t move. – [Steph] Careful you. – [Adam] My fat butt’s
moving all the pens. (laughs) I got really excited. – [Steph] I’m giving her pink hair. – [Adam] Oooo. – [Steph] I’m gonna line it
afterwards cause I’m scared that whatever I line it with it might run. – [Adam] Oh okay. You nearly put all of that on the picture. – [Steph] Yeah all lost. (Adam laughing) Thankfully I could see that it
was a different colour on it. – [Adam] That might have
been the first doodle date where that we would’ve had to censor. (Steph laughing) Oh yeah there it goes, yeah it’s doin’ it. Look at that. – [Steph] I wanna try to
put more of the colour. Oh I’ve put the wrong lid on. That’s cool that it
fits on though. (laughs) If you wanna mix and match
your lids, there’s a trick. – [Adam] Hey that would be,
that would make a pretty cool marker challenge if you
swapped all the lids around. – You wouldn’t know what
colour you’re getting. – [Adam] Do any of you
guys have pink hair? – [Steph] I once accidentally
dyed my hair pink. – [Adam] You did didn’t ya? One time you actually dyed it
pink completely by mistake. – It was meant to be postbox red, but it lied it was like magenta pink. – [Adam] You wanna look like a postbox eh? – [Steph] Yeah that was the
look I was trying to go for. – [Adam] I was trying to
look blocky and very red. – [Steph] Oh wow these
are like watercolours because that’s started
to run into my pink. – [Adam] Oh is it because it’s still wet. – [Steph] Yeah. I mean that’s really cool
but I’m also like, ahhh. So once I get that hair to dry, I might try to do it
like a bunch of colours for the jumper just to
try and get like a really watercolor-y effect. – [Adam] More like a multicoloured one. – Yeah. Kind of like that paper
I accidentally did. There’s some really cool
effects goin’ on on this. – [Adam] Yeah look at that. – [Steph] Have you put one of
those rings on your fingers? – I’ve got two. Someone liked me that
much so they put two. – [Steph] When you were
little did you used to put Hula Hoops on all your fingers? – Yeah and eat them off and I used to like bite my fingers. (laughs) – I love Hula Hoops. – [Steph] Isn’t it devastating
when you finally get to an age where your fingers are
too fat to put in Hula Hoops? – Or fat in Pringle tubes. (laughs) – [Steph] Oh if I do
this with my hand I can still get in a Pringle tube. (laughs) – Yeah your hands, your
hands are so small. But me I just like go thump,
and I have to get it removed by like a surgeon or something. – [Steph] You take advantage of the fact that I have small little hands though cause you make me clean behind the toilet cause you said that you can’t fit. (laughs) – Get behind the toilet. Bring me those last Pringles. (laughs) – [Steph] I get all the un-fun jobs to do. – What feeding me Pringles and cleaning behind the toilet? (laughs) – [Steph] Yeah. – Let’s give them blue eyes. – [Steph] That’s lilac. Love well it’s happening. (laughs) It’s got the colour names on it. – [Adam] Oh. – [Steph] It’s actually called lilac. – [Adam] Ha ha shut up. (laughs) (Steph laughing) Let’s colour in the eyes, azure blue. – [Steph] It’s a very dark blue. – Ah, my world for a light blue. – [Steph] It looks kind a
nice in the lilac really. – [Adam] This is a brush pen. This is just water. – [Steph] I know but I had lilac. – [Adam] Oh. – [Steph] And you’ve picked up the lilac. – [Adam] Well, maybe she’s
wearing circle lenses. – [Steph] As if you know
about circle lenses. – Hey I’m cool with the trends. I know these things. Ever since we started doing YouTube guys I’ve been educated in so many things. And the way you did it is you
put some colour down first. – [Steph] Mmhmm. – So I’m gonna put some here. Where it folds in cause I imagine it’d be darker there right? – [Steph] Oh look at you trying to plan where your lights and darks are. – [Adam] As you can see guys I’m not very good with them, but. – [Steph] You’re managing to use them. – Yeah, I haven’t got it
like shovin’ it in my nose instead of how do you use these? – [Steph] You haven’t
attempted to eat it yet. It’s going well. – I’m not forced to eating her. (laughs) You didn’t tell me you’re
colouring in the sock. – [Steph] Um, I’m going to try and line it with the pen.
– Oh yeah yeah. – [Adam] Does it have
good control with it? Is it easy to use? – [Steph] Yeah it’s just
like a brush pen, really. – [Adam] I’m really
struggling with remembering what I named your character as well. – [Steph] Something like,
Philippa the sock head or something. (laughs) – [Adam] Phyllis the sock head. – [Steph] Let’s try. – [Adam] What are you gonna use now? – I’m nervous cause I’m
just like goin’ with this on a whim. – [Adam] Whoa. – [Steph] I’m gonna put some green on the skirt.
– On the, okay. – [Steph] And then I’m gonna try to that in black. – [Adam] Whao. – Steph] Let’s try. – [Adam] That’s pretty brave of you. – [Steph] It is. I don’t even get this
adventurous with watercolours when I use them. This is definitely lookin’
quite watercolor-y. So far. I definitely think that
yours will be the true test of how watercolor-y they
are since you have no idea how to use watercolours. – [Adam] That’s terrible. Why would you give that
to someone to review who doesn’t know how to use them? Uh. – [Steph] Because you are
representing everyone. The average person who has
no idea what they’re doing? – [Adam] I do that in
a lot of departments. (Steph laughing) – [Steph] I have an idea
for a fun experiment that I’ll try. – [Adam] Oh no. – [Steph For her jumper. – [Adam] Oh I thought you meant with mine, I was like oh no.
– No, not with yours. – [Steph] I wondered why you
were dreading my experiment. – [Adam] Oh no she’s experimenting again. – [Steph] I’m going to
try and do the jumper in a light wash of
water, and then like drop different droplets of
colour on to see if it’ll do that watercolour thing. – Oh whoa. – [Steph] When it expands out. – I hope that works cause
that will look really nice. – [Steph] That would be a fun
watercolour test. (laughs) – [Adam] Yeah. I’m gonna do a little bit here. – [Steph] It’s a super
bright like navy blue. An ultramarine blue. – [Adam] That’s why I’m gonna do– – [Steph] Royal blue. – [Adam] A couple of bits
here and see if I can like gradient it to go down? – [Steph] Yeah you’ll be able to. – [Adam] Let’s try and
get, yeah let’s try and get a lot of water and see what happens. And I think I may have
messed this up. (laughs) – [Steph] Oh no it’s
created a bit of a shadow under the scarf that’s all. – [Adam] That’s kind of
what I was going for. But not quite as harsh. (Steph laughing) It’s like she’s wearing
a scarf that’s made out of lead, it’s like ugh so dense. – [Steph] So I’ve just been
trying to go over some of my lines to make them a bit darker. – [Adam] Ooo. – [Steph] And I used
the red one to just do a few of the hair tips. – [Adam] That looks good. – [Steph] And I used this fine liner which I already had to
do the facial details. And I’ve put it on some
bits of like the hat, and I’ve outlined the skirt as well. And I’ve noticed that you’ve finished the coat, oh. And now you’re colouring in the boots. – [Adam] The boots, yeah trying to. – [Steph] It does
definitely look like you’ve done it in watercolour. – [Adam] Oh that’s good. (laughs) – [Steph] Okay so this next
bit’s gonna be quite daring. – [Adam] Oh this is, this is the bit. I’ve been excited for this.
– Yeah I’m nervous. – [Steph] Oh now the
water’s bleedin’ from my uh. That’s not the bit I wanted– – [Adam] The first blob is like no. – [Steph] Okay you know what
we just gotta roll with this. I don’t wanna touch the hair cause I don’t want the
hair to all bleed into it. – [Adam] Would you like
to try squeezing it to make like a blob fall on it? – [Steph] You can do. – [Adam] Oh is it– – [Steph] Oh. – [Adam] Wooooaaah. Well it’s runnin’. Whoa. – [Steph] It’s creating like
a tie-dye kind of effect. – [Adam] That looks so cool. Whoa look at that. Yeah there you go. – [Steph] Ho ho ho. – [Adam] Whoa. (Steph chuckling) So where does Phyllis shop
for these jumpers exactly? – [Steph] She tie-dyes them herself. On her body. While she’s fully dressed. – [Adam] Does she just get
dressed and like rub printer cartridges on her body, cause like hmm. I’m gonna look so good. – [Steph] I probably didn’t pick the most complimentary of colours. – [Adam] I know but because you didn’t, it looks really interestin’. – [Steph] Huh. – [Adam] Whoa. – [Steph] No. That was a lot more
than what was intended. And I think I’ve used the wrong colour. Oops. – [Adam] Oh my god look at that. – [Steph] Okay so I’m gonna dab it. – [Adam] Whoa, that– – [Steph] That’s got
an interesting effect. – [Adam] I look away for a
minute and you’re doin it again. – [Steph] Yeah. So let’s dab this time. Ha, dabbing. – [Adam] You guys always
accuse me of dabbing. – [Steph] Oh no I think
the paper’s starting to not forgive me. Okay after this. – [Adam] Oh that bit looks so nice. That bit there. Kinda looks like she’s
got this really cool war wound or something. – [Steph] War wound? – [Adam] She got into a
fight with a tie-dye machine. It’s my war wound from when
I fought my tie-dye machine. – [Steph] Oh you addin’
a little bit of shadow. – [Adam] I’m trying to. – [Steph] Well add some leaves. – [Adam] But just between you and me guys, the reason that it’s dried is because our shoppin’ just arrived. I was having such a good time. I was like oh I’m gonna make
this shadow look so good. – [Steph] I added a tonne of
colourful splodges to this jumper. – [Adam] You know it turned out really, really nice, you know. That was totally worth it. – [Steph] That jumper’s had some dabbin’. – [Adam] Yeah you dab too much you’ll end up like that thing. – Oh yeah we, we totally forgot. The first one that we
used, and we didn’t use it. So. – [Steph] The glitter brush pen. – [Adam] Let’s try and use it on– – [Steph] The scarf. – [Adam] The scarf I guess, yeah. Let’s see what we can get with this. Okay guys let’s see if I can show you this real quick. Can you, the, oh. Kind of there? – [Steph] So a big thank you to the guys over at Tonic Studios. – Yeah thank you Daniel. – [Steph] For sending us this stuff. – You rich marker fairy you. Sending us free stuff. – [Steph] And if you wanna
see another video of us using watercolour markers. – We will link it somewhere here. – [Steph] I’ll link that above. And I’ll also link the video that we did with those markers. – Yeah which Tonic Studios also sent us. Thank you guys. – [Steph And Adam] Doodle date. – [Adam] Fillin’ my water brush. Fillin’ my water brush.
