Painted Rock Owl #2 Beginner Tutorial with Paint Pens

okay so i’m making another owl today again
this is pretty basic for some beginner here this one I spray painted with the background
the rock was kind of rough so these do require maybe a little bit more time for the pen to
dry I am going to start with the black pen as always and I am going to start with his
eyes or her eyes whichever so I am going to be doing 2 bigger circles for the outer outer
part of the eye and because this rock is um because this rock is spray painted in the
background I am not going to leave any of it showing so here goes the other eye don’t
know why I turn on the video camera and I can’t draw I just freak myself out I guess
okay so we have the 2 outer rings of they eyes and we are going to have to do it is
also a little harder to draw on on this spray painted ones with the paint pens I am not
much of a painter with regular paint I do some dotting here and there I am not awfully
good at it but I always like to try new things I mean if I never tried this I would not even
know that I could do it so I am going to go in from here when I made this last fella I
had it really off we are going to do it like that the outer line is the line that I am
going to go with going to do one more out here its kind of like winged eye liner you
think you got it and then you do one side and then it doeesn’t really match the other
side I apologize for my son here he is a noisy boy that’s okay he is a good boy so, and again
do one more kind of like I guess if you were going to do a tree
I think my son called these what was it? wood penguins I thought that is actually quite
accurate smart boy and his favorite song right now is we will rock you so he is going to
jam that out in the background so I am going to like just basically I am going to do it
real quickly I think I am going to do some feathers and I started in the center because
that helped me with his beak last time when I did it so I just stuck with that and I like
to do an even amount of these (feathers) and then on the next row down I can make it bushier
or I could make it smaller and I can do it just in the spaces of the voids like how mandalas
are done if that is how you say it I am not really sure so this one I am going to I think
it might be better without the light and you can make these any length you want
you can give them footsies you could do whatever you want it’s your owl it’s your life there
ya go it kind of looks like grapes doesn’t he maybe I will add another one here sometimes
you just have to do the go back and add some more because it looks silly to me usually
once things are colored in once things are colored in it actually looks much better so
I am going to leave him or her however it ends up being this way I am going to give
this one 3 little golden toes so there we go with that and now it’s time to color the
stuff in I think my 4 year old since we are on the second video is um getting very bored
with trying to be quiet so we are going to finish as much as we can and also the other
thing which is the black didn’t dry very well and it doesn’t dry very well you just have
to wait for it to dry longer when it’s on the spray paint (any shiner surface) because
I just put the white on there and it turned the eye a little gray so now I have to wait
for that to dry and go over it again but I have to clean off my pen and I am going to
skip the white there I am not sure I think I am just going to have to do just black first
back here now I am going to draw both of these things in with both of
these (son whispering please open my door)so I’m going to so basically I don’t really think
I have to show you too much of this but I am going to color it in and then I am going
to turn it back on and show you what it looks like I am going to go ahead and do both the
coats and then so I wanted to jump back on real quick while my kids weren’t talking in
the background so I didn’t have to over talk them I added just this I think I am going
to turn this into a log um and of course his feet and umm I added some more feathers to
even it out it was kind of wonky and the eye I am going to have to fix too but I kind of
like there eyes a little crooked uh that’s it for now I am going to get going on coloring
it in and I will post when I get that done okay now I am back I went over them all twice
but the pink could have probably used it again but it seems like kind of a waste of paint
to do it more than twice (run the risk of cracking more than two coats) so I am just
going to outline everything that I already used the lines of course just like I did originally
now I am going to adjust it for the color and you can make it feathery if you’d like
or you can keep the lines nice and straight again it’s a little bit tricky when you spray
paint the rock because it kind of slick over here I need to adjust that okay
and I like to always start at the top I am going to have a lot of rocks done just from
doing videos today I really enjoy doing them (videos) I wanted to share this with everyone
and hopefully other people can use them my son is still playing minecraft in the other
room so he gets a little noisy and now I am going to do the feathers now this black pen
is almost too sharp is bringing up some of my paint that I have already I guess there
is a problem with each whether you have a sharp one or a dull one there is always positives
too it that’s why I hate to get rid of any of my pens you can also use them for dotting
people do that I haven’t yet I have refilled a couple here and there so I have not really
had any empty empty I have a video that my husband helped me make with refilling them
and the interesting thing about that video is it goes in reverse when you remove the
cap that was the tricky part that we found out and that doesn’t last as long as you’d
hope either so it’s kind of a lot of work just for minimal savings really but it was
worth trying seeing how it did and desperate times it would work perfectly can probably
thin up some paint and even put paint in there I haven’t done that but I am sure it would
be quite easy you probably just have to get the right consistency is all so it still comes
out the tip that is another issue I have had with the posca I get the tips plugged up and
I don’t want to put something in it because it ruins them, but then again if I can’t get
it unplugged I can use it either so I always struggle with doing that so you just want
the plug to come out so if anyone has any ideas besides that, that would be wonderful
I also took some white up here on the eyes I just don’t know if I mentioned it just 2
dots to give them sparkle is all I have been really lucky I have had lots of friends that
I have been able to watch with paintings like these and if it gets plugged it sometimes
will explode and you don’t want that to happen that is devastating this pen is already plugged
darn okay there we go I got it it is going to be thicker in this spot it’s interesting
that it won’t work and then all of the sudden it works here we go last row of feathers circle
the toes then just kind of make this there we go that’s it once again we did it hopefully
yours turns out something similar to this if not even better I hope have a good night!
