Paintball Tips & Tactics : Paintball Bunkering Techniques

Hello this is Rob Rubin and you’re watching
Expert Village. In this episode we are going to be talking about bunkering. Bunkering is
when you run up to your opponent say right here and you are going to shoot them at very
close range as you are either running past them or stopping at this bunker. Now why do
people do this, I mean couldn’t you just shoot someone from a farther distance away? Well
not always. Sometimes somebody has gotten themselves into a spot that there is no good
way to get them out of it other than to just basically come up on them. There are two basic
ways of bunkering move. The first bunker move is a run through where you are going to run
through the target, passing the target as you shoot at him, and as you shoot you are
just going to keep on going. The second type of bunkering move is where you are going to
be stopping at this position. This is more for the middle of the field not necessarily
a snake bunkering. You are going to shoot the person and then immediately use his bunker
as cover. When you are doing a bunker run, there is a social etiquette to bunkering.
It doesn’t sound like it but there is. When you are coming across the player you don’t
want to shoot them in the head. Don’t shoot them in the neck or the kidneys over here.
Not only is that rude but you could probably injure someone that way. What you want to
do is when you are coming across especially if they are playing tighten the bunker you
want to aim for where there power pack may be or you want to aim for the bottom of their
shoes down here. There are two reasons for those. The ball is going to break. The ball
is going to break if they are wearing a pod pack or it is going to break on their shoes.
The second reason you want to do that is because if they are dumb enough to wear cheap pods
in their pod packet they deserve to have 100 rounds get broken. There is another thing
that people tend to do when they are doing their bunkering run and that is they will
be shooting at the person that they are planning on bunkering. Now a lot of people say that
is a good thing because when they hear this thing being constantly hit by paint balls
it doesn’t tell them where you’re coming from. But I have a philosophy that if I am shooting
at this bunker I’m basically telegraphing my move because you can feel which side the
paint balls are hitting so this guy is going to know which side they are coming from and
he will be able to set up for them. It is pretty much like that. When you are making
your bunker run do not just hold the barrel ecstatic. When you are coming in to make your
bunker run you have to actually keep the barrel moving so that the tip of the barrel is still
facing your opponent. If you try to do a run through with the barrel straight on like this
it is possible that you can miss between shots, even if you are shooting 15 balls per second
you can’t have one ball go in the front and one ball going behind. Just remember when
you are doing your bunkering run eventually they are going to bunker you some day. Do
unto others as you would have them do unto you. We did that entire thing without actually
bunkering anybody.
