Paint.NET tutorial number 150 – Glossy Glass Text Effect

Hello, today I‘m going to show you a tutorial on how to create a glossy glass text effect. So go to file – new. Create an image with size you want. I‘ll use 1280 by 720. And click ok. Now choose 2 blue colors or whichever colors you want, but they need to be similar. So I will left and right click on this blue. So I will can edit them. And now on the primary color I will make it lighter. And on the secondary I will make it darker. So lets click on that primary color box again. And choose gradient tool and drag from top to bottom. Hold left shift so you‘ll keep a straight gradient. And when you are done add new layer. Choose black color, text tool, bolded font with big size. I will use Poplar Std with size of 144. But you can use any other font that will look good on this effect. So, when you are ready write something. And align your text to center by going to effects – align object. Or object align – center both. Choose magic wand tool, and tolerance 59, 60 or something. Hold left shift and click on text. Your letters should be selected now. And edit – invert selection. Hit delete on your keyboard. And hold left shift and click on any letter again. So we should get rid out of these black kinda outlines. Now let‘s go to effects – stylize – engrave/emboss. Choose emboss with size of 5 or something. Click ok. Deselect. Now hold left shift and click on any grey color. And it should select everything that is in the middle of the text. It shouldn‘t select white and black on the sides of the text. And lets go to edit – cut. Edit – paste in to new layer. And we did this because we need our selection. Or if we just delete that, I don‘t know, grey color we would lose our selection.. And we won‘t be able to select same thing again. So this is how layer 2 looks. It doesn‘t have grey color on its own anymore. So the layer 3 contains that. And we needed this selection because there is more steps on that. So, rectangle select tool, selection mode – subtract. And subtract this bottom part of the text. Now add new layer. Choose white color as your primary. And on the secondary with transparency alpha 0. Go back to primary color again and choose gradient tool. And drag from bottom to top. Just like that. Again, hold left shift so you will get a straight gradient. Now, deselect. And delete layer 3, which is this grey color thing. So layer 3, delete. And now you can change the layer 4 opacity if you want. Click ok. Go to layer 2, which is these white and black outlines. So on layer 2 go to effects – antialias, and choose these settings. If you want you can edit them, so it will look better for your text. So when you‘re done click ok. You can change the opacity of this layer, click ok. So, image – flatten and it will merge all the layers together. It won‘t change any layer opacity. And yeah, so.. That was tutorial on how to create glossy glass text. So hope you enjoy that. Comment, like and I see you next time. Bye.
