Metallic Paint Collection Rolling Application Video (short version) by Modern Masters

Metallic Paint Collection is designed to
be used as an alternative to regular latex paint. It can be applied by brush
roller or spray. Surface needs to be primed with an acrylic primer. We
recommend Zinsser Bulls Eye water-based for interior and Zinsser
Bulls Eye 1-2-3 for exterior. I’ve chosen Copper Penny as my metallic
color for this application and before transfer into another bucket you want to
make sure to thoroughly stir this product. I’ve gone ahead and transferred
it already and I’m now ready to add 16 ounces of Extender for rolling right
into this. You want to make sure to thoroughly stir this as you’re adding it
as a nice complete mixture. Joe’s cutting in the wall using a four inch mini roller
with a half inch nap. The roller mimics the texture that will be created with a
nine inch roller. Do not use a brush to cut in as you run the risk of picture
framing the wall. Start by cutting in the corners, then ceilings and baseboards.
Roll in a vertical direction, not in the traditional manner of creating V and W
patterns. Keep a wet edge and finish the surface by back rolling in one direction
ceiling-to-floor. Use a very light pressure. This technique will minimize
lap marks and properly orient the metallic particles ensuring a uniform
finish. We’re going to let this dry for about four to six hours and then repeat
the process. Ok, Joe has finished applying the second coat of metallic paint and
it’s dry. You can see how uniform the coverage is. You can also see that
there’s a very slight dapple texture that was left by the roller he used. Now
the paint is fairly durable, but for high-traffic areas, you should topcoat it
in Modern Masters MasterClear®. Unlike other water-based topcoats,
MasterClear® enhances the richness of the metallic paint and prevents rub off
of aluminum particles.
