[Medibang Paint Pro desktop version how to] Easy Hair Color tutorial with Mapping pen

Hello Everyone and welcome back to CLGTart channel. Today I will show you guys how to paint color Hair in Medibang There will have many parts for hair color tutorial same as my eye color tutorial. Because I will show you many ways to paint Color hair in Medibang Paint Pro Today i will show you the quick and easiest way. First i will sketch the character’s face. I will use black color for sketching. Okay, just a quick sketch for the face. I won’t draw it because I will focus to the hair. So i can have the model and show you how I color it. This hair color style gonna be painting style, not cel-shading. Now I will create a new layer to make an explaination. Before I actually doing my job, I need you to understand one thing. You have to know where your light source is This Mean You Should Know where you put the light for the character is. It will be in the back or the front? Or somewhere else? Because That Will make the difference look of the hair. That will change the shining part, shadow, highlight,… Imagine the light direction will be in the side same as I draw. So I will draw the circle like this This oval will be the shiny place and then this part will be the transition color That means it will be the part where shadow and highlight color will be blended. And around this part will be hiding, the light can’t reach to and the shadow will cast on it. That’s why all the parts here, here will be the shadow/dark place. And this place, this too, will be the place show true hair color. Now I will start my work by creating another layer. I will use the watercolor brush Then pick the hair color you want I will choose the brown, then use watercolor brush paint the hair I won’t use bucket tool for this one because I want to have the texture of this watercolor brush Next I will create new layer for shadow Choose clipping for that shadow layer, Darken Blending mode. Pick Darker color. and use Air brush Increase the size and drag it around dark/shadow part you’ve drawn. Check opacity of the brush if it looks weird. Change color if it’s not dark enough Paint around the dark place you suppose this should be (as the sketch we did) Tips: You can change the color easily with Hue Sarutation Brightness box. Click ok when you are done and then create a New Layer, choose clipping with Add Blending mode for Highlight part. Use the same Airbrush, the blending mode will affected to the color in the end. Drag slightly around shining part as you draw in the sketch To make it looks more reality, you will draw a little bit around some part will receive strong light Depend on your experiment and decide to draw it. It should follow the edge of the hair like this. When we turn the sketch layer off, your character’s hair will look like this. Then you will merge all of them together (or just put them in a folder so you can go back fixing something later) Duplicate your new layer (or your folder, later you should merge you new folder to 1 layer for painting) to make sure you can go back when you make a mess. Safety first. Now we will start the painting step. Pick dark color first. Use watercolor Brush Draw around there to make a perfect look of the hair. Then add some strands of the hair to have more nature look. Now we finish the dark place. Adding some dark lines here for the next step. With some dark lines, you can easily to know where dark place end later. and a small line on top to show the divided line of the hair. Then you will use eye dropper to pick the color of the transition part. It should be around the place near dark/shadow color After picking color, use watercolor brush to paint on transition color part. Decrease the size of the brush if you want to have more detailed look. Now you see under the highlight place, it will have the blending color. Pick that one for another transition color Paint around the place between highlight color and the last color Use the same color in here and paint the place at divided line of the hair just draw some small strand of the hair To show the shadow around this part so it will look more details. Now check around, you can find some mixing/blending color, pick that one and paint around as on the screen right now Pay more attention to the place you want to focus, use small size brush will help it look better Final, that will be the same for highlight part Let me turn sketch layer off so you can see the whole look of the hair right now. Next we need to make the color look like they are blending together. So I use Watercolor (Wet) for that Since every parts is separated like this, you will pick the light color and drag it to the dark color Now they’re starting to blend together Do the same for other part, pick light color and drag to dark color. You can use watercolor brush to check and drawfixing small part that still not perfect enough And that’s how I always do when I paint the hair with Medibang Paint Pro They are not really beautiful but when you have bunch of things and want to have quick painting hair, that’s what I do If you still have more time, you can add some final details for this style. Just decrease the size of the watercolor brush and slowly paint some strand of the hair. Or you can use the trick I always do with Mapping Pen on Medibang Paint pro. If you don’t have it, you can download this brush from Medibang Cloud. By click the cloud button, find Mapping Pen and download it. When you have Mapping pen on your Brush box, double click to it to open setting box increase the Max Number of lines and Decrease The distance of Lines. Brush Width should be small enough that you think that will fit to the hair and then start to draw like This With Mapping pen, you will create bunch of strand hair like this, make it look more details But you shouldn’t use this too much or it will look really fake. To look more naturally, you can use watercolor brush, decrease the size and draw some lines like this It will mix with the Mapping pen and give the best result later. You done! This trick will give a better result if you look the character far like this. For more trick, You can create new layer, choose Add blending mode. Then drag it super slightly around highlight part. You will have a cool effect later like this. So this is my hair tutorial Thank you for watching and don’t forget Subscribe for more videos in future. Goodbye
