Mahomes hay bale painting in Kearney goes viral

MAHOMES. KMBC 9’S WILLIAM JOY SHARES THE
STORY BEHIND IT.>>IT KIND OF COMES OUT OF
NOWHERE WHEN YOU’RE DRIVING DOWN
HIGHWAY 92, THREE WIDE, THREE
TALL, 18 FEET HIGH. RUSSELL FRICK WHO BUILT IT AND
LIVES HERE HAS BEEN HERE FOR
DECADES BUT ONLY STARTED THIS
TRADITION 10 OR 12 YEARS AGO. DOING A DIFFERENT OBJECT EACH
YEAR, SOMETIMES A PUMPKIN OR
TRACTOR. THIS YEAR HIS GRANDDAUGHTER, BIG
CHIEFS FAN, DECIDED THEY SHOULD
DO PATRICK MAHOMES. THE WHOLE PROCESS OF TRACING
THIS OUT, USING A PROJECTOR,
STACKING THE HAY BALES, PUTTING
IT TOGETHER, FINISHING THE PAINT
LAST NIGHT, TAKES OUT A WEEK
COMBINED. A FRIEND DONATES THE HAY. FRICK LOVES THE TRADITION
EVERYWHERE.>>IT WAS HARDER TO BUILD
BECAUSE YOU HAVE SO MANY
DIFFERENT VARIATIONS OF COLORS
AND SUCH A SMALL SPACE PER NIGHT
HOPE EVERYBODY ENJOYS IT AND
THAT IS WHAT WE DID FOR.>>AT MY LOOK COMPLETE, BUT THE
TWO CHANGES FRICK WOULD MAKE
WOULD BE EITHER MOM’S SIGNATURE
ON ONE OF THE HAY BALES OR A
SUPER BOWL RING ON
