How to Paint Margay using Watercolor | Realistic Animal Painting Tutorial- Windy Shih

hey guys it’s Wendy from Wendy’s art welcome back to my channel in this video I’m gonna be doing a watercolor tutorial on how I paint needs Margay that I created using ho by artist watercolor paints and a white gel pen from Sakura so I’m going to go through my general methods and things I did to create this painting so the first thing which is very important is to make sure that you have an actual sketch I like to our in my sketch with some light watercolor first and erase the pencil sketch afterwards so I don’t need to worry that there’s pencil sketch left when I finish my painting and then I like to start painting from the eyes on any animals that I do I always like to pen from the eyes because if you pin the eyes well it usually helps the whole paintings a lot so I’m painting out the darkest part around the pupil and I mix up dark brown and navy color for these parts the reason why I didn’t choose black color is that if you only pen with one black color the painting will look dull and boring I’m using my numbers your pen brush for all the details part around the eyes and then I also paint out the darkest part on the face [Music] then I change to my number two brush for all the darkest patterns on the Marquez body so the pins on the body are in different sizes usually the parts that are closer to Pender will have a bigger pattern and by painting out the different shapes of patterns you can see either the object is further or closer I start painting from the closer parts which is around the middle of the Marquez body then the patterns gradually become smaller to the left side of the body because it’s further from the painter the patterns on the body is darker than the faces so I did add some black here to strengthen the color [Music] [Music] apps have finished all the darkest penance I pin out the first year on their mortgage body least there should be lighter because we’re going to add darker layers on app doors before you add on second layer make sure your first layer is dry so the color you put on afterward is more accurate and stronger for the second layer I mix up a dark red color then the first there to pin out the shadow parts around the bigger panels on the body and then I also add the third layer on the bottom area of the body I recommend to work on layers like this to build up a 3d looking work [Music] [Music] so to finish the eyes i pecados on the pupil and highlight the white eyes with white gel pen then i also add some darker shadows on the face so the face look realistic [Music] [Music] lastly I use white gel pen to draw out full of whiskers on the right side of the face for the left side because I didn’t paint the background I like to use very light sky-blue to paint out the whiskers if you do background you can just use white gel pen to draw along [Music] so that’s all for today’s video this is the final result and I hope it’s helpful feel free to leave a comment below and let me know if you have any questions if you enjoy the video please like and share with your artist friends if you want to see more video like this make sure to subscribe to my channel and ring the bell so you won’t miss out on my weekly are videos and tutorials thanks for watching after you next week bye [Music]
