How to paint a colour chart with 6 colours – part 2

In part one of ‘How to paint a colour
chart with six colours’, we showed you how paint a colour circle. Make sure you’ve completed this before starting part two. Download the template, the link will be
in the description below. This colour chart shows you what happens when you mix the three warm primary colours together. First start with cadmium yellow
and fill in all the boxes. Rinse your brush and continue with Cadmium Red, rinse your brush again and continue with Ultramarine Blue. Make sure you have some
scrap paper handy to check your colours. Mix a little Cadmium Red into the
Cadmium Yellow to create a light orange. Add a little more Cadmium Red to create
a middle orange. You can test your colour on the scrap paper before you apply it
to your template. The darkest orange you apply, has to be
between the middle orange and the Cadmium Now we are going to use Cadmium Yellow and Ultramarine Blue. When you use Ultramarine Blue be very careful, it’s very strong and can overtake your colour mix. This is where you get some
useful greens. Add a little more Ultramarine to get a middle blue, again checking this on your scrap paper. Now add some more Ultramarine to get the last colour, which must be lighter than Now for the last row. Cadmium Red and Ultramarine Blue are carefully mixed together. This is where you get some really useful dark colours. In part three of this series we will be
mixing the three cool primary colours. Download the template in the description
below.
