Drawing in 3 DIMENSIONS! | Scribbler 3D Pens | drawingwiffwaffles

Man I wish I could draw in 3D. Huh? what’s this thing? These are two of scribblers 3D pens. 3D pens are sort of like hot glue guns you insert filament into one end and it feeds through the pen heating it up to the desired temperature and Unloads the filament which is now melted on the other end where it can be shaped into whatever You know the artist decides scribbler sent me these two 3d pens to try out and share my thoughts with you One is the scribbler duo and the other is the scribbler nano the scribbler duo is Adequately named because it has dual input points and output points. It has a switch that allows you to switch between either Using both at the same time or just one or the other My biggest problem with this device is that it’s just so bulky and kind of hard to hold on to The two nozzles also proved kind of difficult to use if you actually had a plan in mind because when you’re trying to See where the ink is being placed It’s just so large It’s just kind of hard to see where you’re putting the filament you know But it’s really fun when you’re like doodling and using the two nozzles at the same time I really liked the idea of having two colors in it at once that you can quickly switch between Since loading and unloading 3-D pens can be a bit tiresome, and then there is the scribbler Nano which I consider to be vastly superior It has the slender design, which gives your wrist a lot more mobility and feels more like you’re holding you know a pen and the small tip allows me to see exactly where I am depositing the filament so I can trace my Stencils you do need to change out the filament every time you want to change the color But as I really got into creating like sculptures with this it became less and less tedious to me because I just kind of knew what I was doing and I Got more excited that the project was getting further and further completed. My…I’m gonna be honest… My very first attempts at using these pens did not go awesome And I can’t lie I got a little frustrated but my little brother actually got the hang of these pens a lot faster than I did and I just proved me you know then it can be done so after some failed attempts I decided to go to bed, and I was gonna come up with a better plan the next day And I also did some research that day and watched literally every YouTube video on using 3D pens that I could find and oddly enough There aren’t very many on there and shout out to makeanything on YouTube your video about drawing 3d bugs Literally saved my butt you have no idea I’m so inspired by these giant bugs. I decided to draw out flat shapes that I could put together into a 3d shape I decided to draw a princess so I drew the straight on view and then the side on view with the of the like the body in the head as Well as other parts That I wanted to include like the arms and the hair hmm now I took the pen with a new sense of excitement and optimism so and I began tracing the design I had drugged I was a little bit afraid of like wasting filament on my first attempt at this so I chose to create like the small version of The princess first and and since I was still you know learning to use the pen I decided to Forego switching out like the filament to different colors as I went and I just used one color And I decided to use a color that I didn’t see myself using much of in the future, which was this like gray silver color once I had traced over the front and side view of the princess I pulled them from the paper And I slid them together I used more filament from the pen to act as like a glue so that I could glue them together into sort of an X shape and With that I had a princess that popped out of the page I then used the circle sense all that I had drawn in Photoshop to create the base of the dress and Used more filament as glue to attach it to the bottom of the front and side view that I had created into an X and Now I had my 3d base. Which is really freakin awesome and after that I just had to create more cross-sections to fill out the shape of the dress which was a lot easier said than done but I managed and the result is quite mind-blowing to me that this was flat and is now three dimensional and Then was the frame was complete I began creating like the outer shell of the sculpture by going back and forth when the pen creates strokes that make up the shape of the princess I Repeated this process for the arms and the hair tracing the stencil Then gluing the front and side pieces together and then attaching each -peach-piece to the body I found that the features of the sculpture was difficult to make out like So I decided to use some acrylic marker so that I had to paint the different elements of her dress on If I had acrylic paints that probably would have turned out a lot better But I like the effect of adding color on top of the filament. I think it looked pretty cool, but after many you know Different attempts of trying to make it look good I decided that the only way that it would probably Look better is if I actually use different colored filaments for each separate element of the dress So with that it was time to try again After taking another sleep so third day. Let’s do it! With a little bit more experience under my belt I repeated all of the same process, but this time I used the large stencil and learning from my mistakes When I made the smaller one I was a lot faster and I knew little elements that were a little bit quirky the first time I tried it that I got right the like well I Guess it’s the second try, but the first try on my second attempt I got right you know and I can say that making a larger sculpture It does allow you to put a lot more detail in it which I really enjoyed, but it has a lot more I mean it’s like a lot more difficult to fill in the shapes and creates those cross sections That you can then go over and fill out the outside one thing I learned while doing this is that if you add the filament in small sections It doesn’t cool down super fast and you’re able to apply it with your fingers to get like that round shape that I needed For like the dress so that it looked round I got better at this as I went along like the first jump was like but it came in really handy as I you know progressed and Another thing I did differently this time is I didn’t add her poofy sleeves To the main body piece that I had like it shows on my stencil When I was making the small version it was a little awkward And I already had the poofy sleeves built into the arms and making that change I think really improved the overall look of the arm poofs Although scribbler provided me with like a lot of filament like seriously thinks the colors are all extremely Saturated this is really fun and like I love all the colors But it doesn’t necessarily make very pretty color schemes I tried my best to combat this by using the pink ABS filament along with the silk pink like the pink silk filament together as well as using the blue regular filament along with the blue silk filament And I think that added something that like a completely different color would have just like thrown overboard You know about using 3d pens in general the hardest part is creating that 3d shape And I’ve never thought in like 3d before like my brain doesn’t think that way and so there’s definitely a learning curve But once you have that shape, once you have something that’s not flat on the page That’s when I really start to enjoy the process like filling in the shapes and adding little details on top And my absolute favorite part of drawing with 3d pens is adding all the little details and bits like the hem of the skirt and then Bunting around the bottom edge. Oh that was really really fun, and I also kind of enjoyed Play sculpting the face on the gray one that I drew even though it turned out really ugly And I drew a mask and I covered it with a mask, but it was fine. You know On about the face there was um no skin tones You know no skin colored filaments provided so at this point I was sort of regretting choosing to make a person, but I decided just to color her skin and her hair with straight white so that she looked so like a mannequin like this Also allowed me to sort of cheat because I didn’t have to put a lot of detail on the face I could leave it flat and you know it just looked better and like there was a reason for it So is that still cheating? I don’t know it looks cool With the hair I tried to make like little braids to like Fill out her ponytail with. I thought that would look really really cool But it was kind of just drowned out by the whiteness of the white filament And you couldn’t really see like any shadows to be able to make out the braids so I just filled in the rest of the ponytail like I did with like the rest of the body And with that I think I was done, and I was finally proud of what I created The only thing I might change would be if I went back is to add some black filament is like Little swishes to look like closed eyes. On like that blank face I think that could really add something But I guess I’ll leave something to approve upon for next time you know Of all in all drawing in 3d is really fun and the most difficult or challenge most difficult that I’ve ever attempted okay Anyone who has a chance to try that they should it’s like completely different than anything else I’ve ever tried And I had a really positive experience on these pens because I think Because I didn’t give up and I think that’s why it feels I feel so good about them You know I had to head that pull To give up every time-like after every attempt you know But I really wanted to create something that I could be proud of and I did and it feels awesome Something I didn’t film was that I actually found out how to make really cool rings That you can wear out of this stuff, and they just seemed remarkably durable We’ll see but um So let me know if you’d like me to make like a video about using these 3d pens to make simple jewelry I think that could be really cool. Yeah. So let me know you want to see me make jewelry with 3d pens If you would like to find out more information about 3d pens Or if you want to get your own go ahead and follow the link in the description to SCRIBBLER3DPEN.com and you can Use the promo code waffles and actually get 20% off your order which it’s quite a treat This is also a great way to help me Continue to create quality content since the channel will get a small percentage of the sales of 3d pens through that link Thanks to scribbler for this experience. It was really really fun and thanks to everyone for watching. I hope you all have a delicious evening fellow waffles! Byeeee!
