Hi everyone! In this video I’ll show you how to decorate plant pots using three painting techniques! You’ll need plain ceramic pots, acrylic paint, paint brushes, small containers, a paint palette, stir sticks and varnish. For the first technique you’ll need one or two natural sponges. Get or mix the colors you want to use. Paint the pot with a few layers of your first color. It doesn’t have to look perfect, as we’ll cover most of it anyway. Let dry. Wet your natural sponge, squeeze the excess water out and dip into the second paint color. Dab some of the paint onto a piece of paper first and then dab onto the flower pot. Do this all over, but make sure you can still see some of the underlying color. Wet the second natural sponge, squeeze the excess water out and dab onto the flower pot, to soften the paint you just applied. Repeat these steps until you’re happy with the result! Give your top edge a few final coats of paint. When your pot is all dry, varnish it and add your plant! For the second technique you’ll need a clean rag. Paint the pot with a few layers of your first color. Again, this doesn’t have to be perfect. Once that’s dry, dillute your second color a bit and brush it onto the pot as a wash. With the paint still wet, twist your rag and roll over it. Give the top edge a few final coats of paint. Wait for your pot to dry, varnish it and add your plant! For the third technique you’ll need some plastic wrap. Paint the pot with a few layers of your first color. Since I’m doing a light color, I’m adding a few layers of white first. As before, you don’t have to apply the paint in a perfect manner. Once it’s dry, dilute your second color a bit and apply very quickly. Then go over it with water. Place a piece of plastic wrap on top of the wet paint and press it gently. Don’t put it on smoothly, you want those naturally occuring wrinkles. Let it sit for about 30 seconds and remove the plastic wrap. You can scrunch up some clean plastic wrap and remove some more paint if you’d like to. Let dry and give the top edge a few final coats of paint. When the pot is dry and varnished, you can add your plant! Thanks for watching!
