Beginners Sugar Skull Face Painting Tutorial | Snazaroo

First, take a Snazaroo paint in white and use a brush to draw around the outside edge of the eye sockets and the very tip of the nose. Switch over to a larger brush and create a sharp edge on the outside of the face. Fill everything in avoiding the areas you’ve just outlined and the lips. To avoid any streaks in the base be sure to work with the paint quite quickly before it dries. Take a lilac colour and with a face painting sponge add in some contouring around the face. Start underneath the cheekbones, add a small amount along the jaw and also a little bit on the forehead. Use the same lilac colour to paint in a heart right in the middle of the forehead. Also add a small petal shape in the centre of the chin. To create the scallop detail around the outside edges of the eyes simply paint a series of dots and then link them all together. Use a lovely sparkle pink shade to fill in the lips. Switch over to black and fill in the inside area of the eye socket. Start with a nice neat line around the outside and then bring the colour down but don’t take it too far onto the eyelid so that it’s easy to remove. Use the black to fill in the very tip of the nose and paint in a small point on the very top. Paint a line starting from the outside corner of the mouth going up and underneath the cheekbones and headed towards the centre of the ear. Add a few straight lines right over the lips and this will represent the skull’s teeth. For the decorative detail, add in lots of different sized teardrops across the forehead. You can also add a few more of the teardrop shapes on the lower half of the face and this will just tie everything together. For the final touch add in a few different size dots around the design just to finish everything off.
