Advanced Paintball Tactics : Advanced Paintball: Team Defense

Hi, this is Robert Stewart with Hill 13.com.
The last thing I want to say about defensive strategies is regarding team defense. Now
as I’ve said before, you can play defense very aggressively or very passively. With
experienced players you won’t see that passive play. You’ll see that even if they are taking
up a positional defense, they’ll play that position very, very aggressively. In team
defense, you might hold part of your team behind your attacking players and use them
in a supporting fashion for cover fire let’s say, or for holding down a position where
the opposing players might reside so that you can move your players forward. Team defense
gets really, really critical when you do what, I refer to it as a Rolling Defense. Rolling
Defense generally comes in when you’re playing games like Hostage or Protect the VIP because
you may not be fixed to a location but you still need team members that are assigned
strictly to defense. In this case that would be as if you had three players protecting
another, an arm player, and you’re moving from one objective to the other. In this particular
circumstance, it’s very critical that you play your defense very aggressively because
you may be firing on the run, you might be firing from a, in a retreating position away
from the opposing team. And in this case, that circle around that player has got to
be strong. For that to happen, communication has to be there, you have to know how to work
together and you really have to drill.
