[1] Acrylic Pour Painting – Primary Color Flip Cup

Hello everybody! How are you doing? Today I am doing a flip cup pour using primary colors. Specifically, I am using Fine Touch brand Naphthalene Red, Primary Cyan, and Primary Yellow. All colors are thinned with Floetrol and water, and all colors contain one drop of silicone oil. For my base I am using Fine Touch brand Titanium White. I do not add silicone oil to my base. Here I am just layering all of my colors. I place a small amount of white in between for color separation. Ready for the canvas… I add a base coat of white to protect the canvas from silicone oil. Silicone oil without a base coat makes the canvas reject the paint, causing deep craters. Time for fire! A quick pass with a culinary torch pops air bubbles in the base coat. Don’t melt your plastic drop cloth like I almost did… Now for the tricky part. After a successful flip, I am letting the cup rest for about two minutes. This gives the colors time to mix together. Okay, the moment of truth. I am using extra paint to cover stubborn corners. Now I just have to decide what I want to keep. I like it! Here I am using my spatula to scoop up extra paint and cover bare spots. Let’s do a close up.
